What is the deal with these online advance payday loans?

The bills aren’t added up right and i need some extra cash for my shots for LPN school.
My question is: Do these things work and how? Do they go off credit? How do they determine how much you will get?
i’m in florida

My state has put a cap on payday loan interest rate at 430%.
Since then they have been closing. Not profitable enough.

They do not go by credit report.
You write them a check and they hold it till payday.
On that day they will cash your check.
If you don’t have the money in the checking be ready for about 4 amazing charges and loan renawal fees, including your NSF checking account charges.

Payday loans are a snakepit of trouble. They are very, very expensive and they are designed to trap you into constantly rolling them over and paying fees again and again. Don’t do it.

Instead, call one of your other creditors and ask them to give you a week’s extension. I am willing to bet your utility companies will, or your landlord, if all you really need is until your next payday.

Otherwise, see if you can get a personal loan from a credit union. They are much cheaper.

Do not get the online payday loans. If you have to get a payday loan, at least go to one where you walk in a store and talk to the people who run it.

They do not run your credit, they go by how much you make in a pay period. The most they can lend is $425, and you will have to pay back $500. You will have to bring in your paycheck stubs, check book, a utility bill with your name and address on it, drivers license, possibly your SSN card and a pint of blood (ok, that last part was just being funny)

They will charge close to 400% interest on the loan, and a lot of people find themselves in a revolving cycle of just renewing the loan and paying the fee or interest. They are very difficult to get out from under.

Do not do this if you cannot get it paid off in the time frame of a month. Otherwise, you are going to get sucked into the cycle.

The ones on the internet tend to debit your checking account on the day the loan is due, and if it isn’t in there, you get slammed with not only overdraft from your bank but fees from the payday loan.

Also, the ones you go to in person, you have to pay them back in cash..they do not cash your check. (unless you don’t show up to pay them..LOL)

Also, be aware that in some states, Payday loans are illegal, and if you are in the military you can no longer get a payday loan.

Stay away from them! They rip you off big time with high interest. I fell into that trap years ago and I just got myself out. Ruined me. I would ask a friend or relative first.

Payday loans are legal and legitimate, but they are expensive. They will deposite the money directly into your bank account using your banks tracking number and your personal account number. You must pay them back usually within 14 days. If you don’t intend to pay them back within this time-frame then I wouldn’t borrow from them. It will get very expensive.

It is very important in all personal finance issues to educate yourself about the total picture. If you are in an emergency situation and have exhausted ALL OTHER AVENUES for getting money, a payday loan can get you through a really tight spot. If you have no where else to turn and the only alternative is to drop out of nursing school, these loans may seem like they could save your butt.

Consider that you’ll be paying around 15 percent for a two week loan. That means that if you absolutely must have $500 today, you will write a post-dated check to the payday loan company. In two weeks (at the crack of midnight), they will cash that check. If you know ahead of time that you won’t have money in the bank, you can call the payday loan company and they will “roll the loan over” for another two weeks.

This is where things get interesting. Now, they will ask you for a postdated check for $660. If you have to roll it over again, it could reach $795 in just 6 weeks of the loan!

Eventually, if you don’t make the payments, they will sue you. When you lose the lawsuit and have a court Judgment against you, the payday loan company will get collectors to attach any of your checking accounts, real property, or personal property. You could wake up one morning and have your car being towed, all over a $500 loan that has reached very large proportions.

The reason these loans are popular is because they provide near-instant cash for people without much access to credit and who do not have friends or family who can help them out.

Because you are a student and you need the money for a school related expense, you might be able to approach your school’s financial aid office for assistance. That would be a better route.

However, if you meet all of the following conditions:
    * Nowhere else to get the money
    * Have an urgent need (like having to drop out of school if you don’t get the cash)
    * Have a plan to pay back the money before the interest spirals out of control

Then getting a payday loan might make sense. Just be knowledgeable and aware of all of the factors.
