Student Loan – Mum hits out over student loan wait
Joanne and Jonathon, of the Bakers Mead estate in Hartlepool, say that they have contacted The Student Loans Company, which administers loans for the Government, eight times and were told bosses could not help them.
The Student Loans Company announced in September that 50,000 loan payments would be delayed following a surge in applications.
Bosses say they have now paid out 99 per cent of loan applications and they are aiming to deal with the remainder as soon as possible.
Joanne, who is also mum to 13-year-old Milly Potts, said: “They wouldn’t even take our name or reference number at first, and then when we finally managed to get someone to look into our individual case last week, they said that they couldn’t see an application form from us and told us to send another one in.
“This means all of my income details are lost. I am so worried.”
Jonathon, who has never had problems with receiving his student loan in the past, said: “I am having to work extra shifts at my job even though I would love to be able to just focus on the final year of my degree.
