Payday loan store robbed at gunpoint in McHenry
McHenry police are searching for a man who they said robbed a Payday loan store Monday morning.
The man is described as black; about 5 feet, 10 inches tall; and weighing 170 to 180 pounds.
He was wearing black clothing and a mask covering the bottom portion of his face.
Police said he entered the store at 810 N. Front St. about 8:35 a.m. armed with a handgun. He demanded money and received an undisclosed amount before leaving through the front door.
The three female employees were not harmed and are cooperating with investigators.
It is unknown which direction he fled or whether he was in a vehicle or on foot, police said. The store has video surveillance, which is being reviewed, Deputy Chief John Jones said.
The store also had been robbed about three years ago, on Dec. 15, 2006, Jones said.
Mark C. Kozik and his wife, Heidi L. Kunz-Kozik, where charged with that robbery, as well as five others in McHenry and Lake counties.
