   yes, usually the down payment goes to the dealer then the loan covers the rest. I guess you could not put a down payment on the car and pay for the whole thing with the loan, then put $2000 toward the loan.

   If the price of the car is $7,800.00, you will pay the dealer $2,000.00.
   The loan from the bank will be $5,800.00.

   I never heard of a minimum loan, only a maximum amount depending on credit worthiness.

   The downpayment goes to the dealer.

   By making a downpayment, you are minimizing the bank’s risks, which should increase your chances of getting a loan.

   If you bank has minimum $7500, then don’t put anything down if you don’t have to.
