   An auto loan for under $4,000? Huh? What are trying to do buy four tires or something? Really, a loan this small would not be worth it to the lending institution. And if your credit is bad, you are probably not going to fare too well with this idea.

   Maybe you can go through the company you have your student loan from (assuming you have a student loan). The last thing they’d want to do is lose a potential customer and will do their darndest to make or beat any deal out there offered by another bank.

   You can also go to the dealership you’re thinking about getting the car from and work something out with them. That’s what I was able to do and they beat my original interest rate by 2%. (If you’re going to get a car this way. Wouldn’t work with a private seller, obviously.)
