I am 21 and need to get a car for work, college, student teaching and have a good credit score, 780. I am trying to buy a 1994 Chevy pickup for about $4,500. However, most auto loans are only for cars above 2000. I work at a good job over the summer and will be paying this loan back by the end of the summer. What would be the best loan, or how do I get a loan for this truck??

They only give loans for cars five years and younger because it’s worth something if you do not pay them and they have to reposess it. You are getting ripped off on that truck. You can get a newer vehicle for that price.
So to get your loan, it’s got to be five years or younger and you got to debate whether or not the cost in interest is going to be worth it. Is it just for work and school and plan on getting something different? There’s plenty of cheap cars out there. Take a bus for awhile and save up for a junker. If you can afford it and you are going to keep it for awhile, get a loan for something newer. I know you can get something around 5 years for the price you’d pay for that truck. They advertise it in the papers all the time here.
Edit: Spifiman1 is half right. Most won’t touch it older than 5 years though.
Auto finance is what I do for a living and this vehicle is to old and has to many miles on it for any major lender to touch.
Your best bet is going to be your own local bank or credit union.
Or find a newer vehicle less then 6-years old with less then 50,000 miles and you can get financing at any decent dealer.
